Emergency testing is very time sensitive. The DOT requires that a breath alcohol test be conducted within 8 hours of a qualifying accident, and that a drug test be conducted within 32 hours.

You may conduct post-accident drug tests for other types of accidents (if your policy allows), but those would be conducted under company authority, not DOT.
