Employers must conduct Post-Accident tests as soon as possible. They must administer alcohol tests within two hours and no later than eight hours. Drug tests must be completed within 32 hours. If they fail to conduct an alcohol test within two hours, they must document the reason for the delay. Employers must keep trying to administer a Post-Accident alcohol test for up to eight hours. They must also attempt the Post-Accident controlled substances test for up to 32 hours after a qualifying accident. If they do not conduct a Post-Accident test, they must document the failure in their MIS report.
